Girls Aloud is a British girl group formed in 2002 on the reality show Popstars: The Rivals. The group consisted of Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh, and Nicola Roberts. Their debut single, Sound of the Underground, went straight to number one, marking the start of their hugely successful career. Unlike many reality TV-formed groups, Girls Aloud defied expectations by achieving longevity and critical acclaim.
Throughout their decade-long career, they released five studio albums, all of which were certified platinum. Their unique sound, crafted by production team Xenomania, resulted in 20 consecutive top 10 singles, including Love Machine, Biology, Something Kinda Ooooh, and The Promise, which won them a BRIT Award in 2009. They became known for their innovative, boundary-pushing pop music, setting them apart from other girl groups.
Girls Aloud embarked on several sold-out tours, including The Tangled Up Tour, Out of Control Tour, Ten Tour, and The Girls Aloud Show. After a hiatus in 2009, they reunited in 2012 for their 10th anniversary, releasing Ten and embarking on their Ten: The Hits Tour in 2013. Girls Aloud remains one of the UK’s most successful girl groups, leaving a lasting legacy in British pop music and adored by fans of all ages.
